Ingredients
- 200 g whole wheat flour, plus extra for rolling
- 110 ml warm water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
Method
Gluten-free option ↓- 1
Whisk together the flour, salt and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
- 2
Add the warm water and olive oil. Mix with a fork until a rough dough forms, then knead briefly by hand for about 2 minutes until smooth.
- 3
Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rest for 10 minutes — this makes it much easier to roll.
- 4
Divide the dough into 4 equal balls. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle, roughly 25 cm (10 inches) across.
- 5
Heat a dry non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Cook each wrap for 60–90 seconds per side, until light golden spots appear.
- 6
Stack the cooked wraps and cover with a clean towel to keep them soft and pliable while you finish the rest.
Gluten-free swap
Replace the whole wheat flour with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend (one that contains xanthan gum). The dough will be slightly stickier — rest it for an extra 5 minutes before rolling.
